“Wait a minute Doc…. your telling me this suckers Nuclear??”

Good read from a OSU professor via KATU

I think we stack up very well against all other types of energy sources,” Woods told Albany business leaders last week. “Nuclear emits the lowest amount of carbon dioxide, lower than solar and wind, because of the manufacturing processes used in making those systems.”

An associate professor in the Department of Engineering and Radiation Health Physics, Woods said many who have opposed nuclear power are looking at it differently.

“Now, even environmentalists are concluding that it has to play a role in our energy future,” he said.”

Rest of the story found here.

In a time where Solar, Wind and Hydro aren’t enough, I think the return to Nuclear is one of our best options.  It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Life, Street Fighter 4 and everything else in between.

So maybe this is just a dialogue of me talking… or maybe this is a blog about life updates….  Either way… let’s get down to business.

So many of you know that I am currently unemployed and what a wonderful time to be unemployed right?  (Sarcasm).  Either way, having had 1 interview, 1 phone interview and possible job in a few months time at Vestas energy, the job market is still pretty rough.  With that— I am toying with the idea of creating my own tech support business.  I know right?  If there isn’t a job to be had, just make one up right?  Yeah I was a little hesitant at the idea at first but then I started thinking about it and it might actually work.

So with that comes start up, writing out contracts, upping phone minutes, getting some more tools, web site and such… but it’s exciting to think about.  Having done this computer work for just over 5 years now and having ownership of several projects at previous positions, with my wife helping with numbers…. I think this could work out.

So who knows…. should be exciting.

Other stuff going on…. You may have read my piece on the US and it’s fading out of the lime light…. I do expect this to be over the course of time and not be overnight.  Maybe I’m wrong (and chime in if I am….) but I honestly think that people…. us Americans…. are sick of the people in Washington D.C. and sick of the promises that have no benefit to you and I.  The mere fact that we are spending…. Trillions… TRILLIONS… I know already what the word of 2009 is… it’s the word “TRILLION”– of dollars on what?  Helping us pay our bills? Having more money left in our paychecks?  I have no faith in Republicans or Democrats in this country for the longevity of living here in the States and I think in the near future, we will have another revolution on our hands of which will tip the scales.  I don’t hate my country— I love it— but we have lost sight of making it a better country.

Lastly— A more light hearted note…. Street Fighter 4  Yes…. Street Fighter F’ning 4!!!

Street Fighter 4 kicking ass and taking names on Feb. 17th

Street Fighter 4 kicking ass and taking names on Feb. 17th

It’s hard to believe that in 1991, Capcom changed the gaming landscape with Street Fighter 2.  I still remember heading down to the arcade and putting my quarter up on the machine and waiting my turn.  The rules are simple in the world of Street Fighter….. The winner stays, the loser walks.  I remember going on a 12 win streak and getting all sorts of trash talk from kids 5-10 years older than I was (and that was when I was 10 or 11 I believe) but either way, memorable moment for sure. :-)

So— if you’re in the Portland area and want to get in on the action this week, give a shout out to the blog and we’ll see how good your skills are.  Only 48 hours now!

More later.

Let’s talk a bit about the fall of the super power known as “America”.

So I’m not doom and glooming… in fact I’m embracing this radical change that we’ll see in my life time. A new USA Today poll said that by a

Washington D.C. in 50 years?

Washington D.C. in 50 years?

margin of 2 to 1, Americans think that their children will grow up in a lesser country than we grew up in.

What we’re seeing is a government that is completely out of control. Washington D.C. is the new Hollywood and the Senators are the new movie stars. While there has always been that sort of tension or tie in…. the Senators now are acting as if they have the answers… that they have our best interests in mind.

To use a SNL quote…. “Really? I mean REALLY guys?”

So let’s talk about it… let’s have a discussion about how this is going to play out. How does a nation that fought in two world wars, defeated tyrants and defended freedoms and allowed our nation to turn into a cushy, cynical and greedy society? Is that what our forefathers died for on Omaha Beach? Is this what our men and women died for in Iraq and Afghanistan? (whether or not you agree with it…. they died so that you could have a better life… surf the internet and read this blog… the freedom to do that…. think about that.)

At the core— what was/is the downfall of our great nation? Simple. Greed. Greed is what has eaten away at our core values. Some who know me better than others know that I am against credit cards, FICO scores or anything that has to do with borrowing money. Why? Because the borrower is slave to the lender. Ask yourself when you’re out in your car on the freeway and ask yourself… ‘How many people within 25 feet of your car own their vehicle?’ Probably less than 2 people actually own their cars. We have been indoctrinated with the idea that “Oh sure… I’ll always have a car payment….” Bull. You had a choice at one time…. You had a choice to buy a car or not buy a car…. you had a choice to save money for a car or just borrow money and get what you want, when you want…. it’s the American way right?

So that just ties in these bailout plans, stimulus checks and otherwise BS that our government is trying to do for us? Some out there are using words as socialism, communism… whatever… I’m not about labels but what I do know is I don’t want the government telling me when to use my electronics, I don’t want them telling me where I can or can’t go to whatever doctor I want to go to, I don’t want them telling me how to live my life… period. Which is easier? Rely on the government? Or fight for yourself?

So now that we’re spending our Kids’ kids money…. will this money spending get me a job? *laughs* I hardly doubt it. If I waited for the government

Your kids kids money

Your kids' kids money

to get/give me a job I probably would be well into my 40’s or 50’s. So think about this…. Greed of spending money got us into this crapstorm…. is spending MORE money going to get us out? Doubtful. When will the nutjobs in Washington D.C. get that? You want my honest opinion? Well I’ll give it to you. Call it a “revolutionary” party or whatever you want… but I think it will take a group of people coming into the Senate, House and White House and simply take over. That’s right… because the “common sense” that the people in DC are using is obviously not your grandmothers conventional common sense. So that might happen or who knows… maybe we’ll outsource the government because it’s cheaper…. *cringe* God I hope not….

So my goal in this time without a job…. is to find a job, to keep the American spirit alive and when the finger is pointed what is wrong with American… it’s simple… our hope is in doubt…. our faith is being tested and it’s up to us to tell our government what to do… not the other way around.
